Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School is an Interdistrict Middle School with an emphasis on the arts. It is designed to meet the needs of a population diverse in culture, academic skills and learning styles. It is an environment where every child can begin to realize and appreciate his or her individual development. Children are taught to see, think and learn in ways they have never been exposed to previously.

Rhyme Celebration
"We All Laugh in the Same Language"

Nine french students in 6th grade attended the 17th Annual CT COLT Rhyme Celebration on March 19th. The celebration is a gathering of students PreK - 6, "to promote children's enthusiasm for studying world languages and cultures." This is the first year that a school from New Haven was represented in the event. The students had a great time and did a fantastic job!

First Place

The Betsy Ross Marching Band participated in the New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade for the 23rd year and received a First Place Award as the Best Middle School Band. The awards dinner will be held at the Knight's of St. Patrick's in Hamden on April 25th. The members of the band will receive an award. Congratulations to all who participated.

Positive Behavior Support

The Positive Behavior Support Team has been implementing a behavior plan that recognizes students who display positive behavior. Each week students are being honored with certificates, gift cards, and a variety of items that are raffled off. Each month, students who are in the top 10% of "Caught You Being Good" ticket earners are invited to a recognition celebration.
